Passage: 1 Corinthians 1:1-17

Preacher: Bishop Jayson Quiñones

Series: Church Function

Summary:

The church of Corinth was a carnal, worldly, immature congregation. As the Apostle Paul addresses these issues, we see “what the church is meant to be…” This letter is a second letter written to this congregation, the first one was lost, and this one was probably written 54-55 AD. It is important for us to consider, if a church that is only 25 after Jesus ascended has these kinds of issues, how many issues do you think the church of today will have? As well, we must wrestle with the fact, just as in Revelation, when Jesus rebuked 5 of the 7 churches, He still called them His church. While there is no excuse for carnality in the life of the follower of Jesus, we can never discount how far reaching the mercy and grace of God are. While we ARE called to judge the house, final judgments are in God’s hands alone!
