In Him

In Him

May 20, 2018

Passage: Colossians 2:1-7

Preacher: Bishop Jayson Quiñones

Series: All About Jesus

Summary:

We live in a day filled with voices of deception. As those who trust in the validity of the Bible as inspired by God (literally God’s words) and its necessity in the governance of our lives, we are the minority within the culture and in many cases even within the professing church. The enemy of our souls would have us silenced and lackadaisical as he seeks to undermine the authority of scripture in an effort to minimize its claims about Jesus and ultimately our need for Him to save us.

Memory Verse: Colossians 1:15-18 NKJV

15He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. 18And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.

The doctrine of Jesus Christ must get from our heads, to our hearts, to our feet

Main Points

  • We must seek out the treasures that are in Christ (vv.1-3)
  • We must be on guard against deceptively convincing voices (vv.4-5)
  • Our faith in Jesus must result in biblical progress (vv.6-7)
