Passage: Hebrews 11:32-38

Preacher: Bishop Jayson Quiñones

Series: Living Faith

Summary:

We live in a culture that is results oriented. We want to “see it” grow, we want to “make it” happen and we want to be “part of” something that is working. This is all part of the “Imago Dei.” God imparted to us the ability to produce fruit with a command to be fruitful. The problem is “faith” doesn’t always work the way we want it to!

Detail:

  • We live in a culture that is results oriented. We want to “see it” grow, we want to “make it” happen and we want to be “part of” something that is working. This is all part of the “Imago Dei.” God imparted to us the ability to produce fruit with a command to be fruitful. The problem is “faith” doesn’t always work the way we want it to!

  • Faith is to be the result of a living relationship with our Creator God and Father through the means of our Sacrificial Savior, Jesus, in the power of the Holy Spirit. In other words, our faith is not to be solo, blind or misplaced in the abstract but firmly rooted in the One we cannot see, but has made Himself known to us and in Him we trust!

  • We must embrace the results of our faith as they come, living in hope beyond this life, which has the potential to affect everyone we encounter in this life.

Sadly, our churches have been infiltrated with the Word of Faith movement, where we are taught we can “speak things into existence” be they bad or good, since life and death are in the power of the tongue.

However, that is a perversion of biblical truth…our words matter to be sure, but Gods WORD matters most. Barak could not “curse” Israel (i.e., speak it into existence) because God didn’t “declare them accursed” We have been deceived into this demonic “law of attraction” portrayed in The Secret, which is simply new age spirituality, that is not new.

If we had the power to create our futures there would be no suffering in our lives, ever, and the truth is we all suffer because we live in a fallen world. No matter how much we pray, fast, plan, hope, declare, believe or how disciplined we are suffering is inevitable. Ten steps don’t always lead to the desired outcome…three keys don’t always unlock the door…five principles don’t always apply. However the Gospel always works…bringing us salvation, not because we willed it or deserved it…bringing us peace not because of our circumstances…giving us living hope not solely for this life but that to come…all this said...

“Faith placed in God will never fail us despite what happens around us or to us…”
