A Foundation for Expectation

A Foundation for Expectation

Oct 03, 2021

Passage: Psalms

Preacher: Bishop Jayson Quiñones

Series: A Cry for Revival

Summary:

There should be no question if we simply look around; there is brokenness, bitterness, divisiveness, and a seeming heaviness in our land! However, there is hope, there is help, and there is an answer to what we see happening. The church answer is, "JESUS," which is correct! Nonetheless, Jesus is more than a historical figure or a religious representative of Christianity; He is the resurrected Savior of the world! By His Spirit, He empowers His church to be witnesses of this reality, and as such, break the powers of darkness and despair that so pervade our days. THIS is revival! It is time that the church AWAKENS from its slumber and "Cry for Revival," knowing that we serve a God who hasn't changed! Who is awaiting our surrender to His power, His will and His solution!

Detail:

Sermon Points

  1. We must acknowledge the past—be motivated not stuck: (vv.1-3)
  2. We must have faith for the present—faith isn’t optimism: (vv.4-7)
  3. We must anticipate a future based on the past—God’s word never fails: (vv.8-13)

Faith for revival must be founded in God’s faithfulness, not temporal circumstances

Closing Thoughts...

II Chronicles 7:14 has been a catalyst for the covenant prayers that have birthed revivals in
the past...covenant prayer sees this Scripture as a description of a two-part responsibility,
one is on God to hear, forgive, and heal; the other on His people to humble themselves,
pray, seek His face, and turn from their wickedness—this in response to God’s judgments...

James 4:6-10 echoes what II Chron. 7:14 promises

Hebrews 11:6 is a promise that should motivate a diligent pursuit of God in faith that He will reward!!!

Will you covenant in prayer? (Acts 3:19-21)
